Viacom seems to be confident in Beavis and Butt-Head's future, having ordered a two-season revival at Comedy Central and the Paramount+ movie sequel that spinoffs do seem a strong possibility should either project prove to be a success. Daria received rave reviews in its five seasons on the air and would later lead to the upcoming spinoff Jodie, one of multiple announced spinoffs in the works from the show. The show's popularity would see Judge branch out into various other forms of media, including the theatrical film Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, which received critical acclaim and was a box office hit, grossing over $63.1 million domestically and initially setting a record for the largest December box office opening weekend, only to be later surpassed by Scream 2. Originally premiering in 1993, Beavis and Butt-Head became a pop culture staple in its seven seasons on MTV, receiving both rave and negative reviews from critics for its satire and lewd humor. In between these hijinks, Beavis and Butt-Head also lounge on their couch and critique various music videos and other MTV shows such as Jersey Shore in a similar vein to Mystery Science Theater 3000. In addition to creating the series, Judge also directed and starred as the two titular teenage slackers as they attend their high school in the American Southwest and cause mayhem in their small town in an effort to pick up women. Creator Mike Judge says the Beavis and Butt-Head revival could set up spinoffs in a similar style to Norman Lear's hit sitcoms.
